Lahore: Young protesting doctors of Punjab have resumed their duties in emergency wards of government-run hospitals after having successful talks with the government authorities on the 38th day of the protest.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif hailed the Young Doctors Association (YDA) decision to resume duties and restored the terminated doctors those were sacked in the wake of the standoff between the government and the doctors over the issue of increment of salaries.
The CM said that a committee has been formed to address the issues regarding doctors on priority basis.
The patients in Meo Hospital and Services Hospital in Lahore appreciated the doctors’ decision.
The emergency wards of the Children Complex and the Nishtar Hospital in Multan were opened as the young doctors resumed their duties.
The YDA representatives said that they resumed the duties in emergency wards because they did not want to increase the miseries of already sufferings patients.
The doctors, who were appointed in the emergencies from the basic health centers, returned to their departments.
