Washington: The United States President Barack Obama has said that discussion to equipped anti-Gaddafi forces with arms is under consideration.
While giving interview to an American TV Obama said Gaddafi has to quit rule because of international pressure. He said the purpose of the coalition air strikes on Libya is to put pressure on Gaddafi.
He said Libyan President Muammar Gaddafi has lost control of majority of Libya. He Gaddafi has been very week after coalition operation of allied US-led allied forces.
Obama said pressure has been put on Gaddafi through military and other sources. He said Gaddafi troops have killed thousands of Libyan with in one month.
He said we are not intended to change ruling face in Libya. He said we want change through Libyan people.
It is worth mentioning here that earlier White House and the US State Department spokespersons had passed two conflicting statement in this regard.
White House spokesman J Carney while talking to media on March 7, 2011, said that the US was considering to equip rebels with arms.
On the very next day, on March 08, the State Department spokesman PJ Crowley said the US is opposite of equipping Libyan rebels with arms. He also said that it would be violation of United Nations charter if rebels were equipped with arms.
