Islamabad: On juncture of Pakistan Day, President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari has conferred Nishan-e-Imtiaz upon 17 members of Parliament Committee for Constitutional Reforms for amendments and restoration of the constitution in it’s real essence.
The award ceremony was held here at President House on Wednesday.
On recommendation of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, President Asif Ali Zardari has conferred Nishan-e-Imtiaz upon 17 members of Parliament Committee for Constitutional Reforms, including Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani, Waseem Sajjad, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Babar Awan, Naveed Qamar, Humayun Saif Ullah, Faroq Sattar, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Afrasiyab Khattak, Haji Muhammad Adeel, Rehmat Ullah Kakar, Israr Ullah Zuhry, Professor Khursheed Ahmad, Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi, Abdul Raheem Mandokhail and Muneer Khan Orakzai for amendment in the constitution and restoration of constitution of 1973. Shehzad Taheem son of late Abdul Razaq Taheem received the award on behalf of his father.
It is worth mentioning here that Parliament Committee was comprising 27 members while ten members including Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan, Ahsan Iqbal, Senator Ishaq Dar, Chief JUI-F Maulana Fazalur Rehman, Senator Abdul Malik, Senator SM Zafar, Senator Shahid Hassan Bugti and Senator Nawabzada Mir Haji Lashkerizai refused to receive the awards from President Zardari’s hands.
