Rawalpindi: Former federal minister for religious affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi was arrested in connection with the multi-million Haj scam case here on Tuesday.

During the hearing, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials told the judge that Rs 200 million losses had been inflicted to the national exchequer in arranging accommodation for Hajis in Saudi Arabia.
Kazmi’s lawyer contended that his client was trapped in the case. He pleaded that pre-arrest bail should be extended.
The former minister and sitting member National Assembly of the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Hamid Kazmi had been on interim bail and was arrested by the FIA after the judge refused to extend his pre-arrest bail.
