Karachi/Hyderabad: Five people have been shot dead and several vehicles torched in Karachi and Hyderabad, the southern cities of Pakistan, late Thursday evening, media reports say.
Tension gripped the cities as Pakistan People’s Party, the ruling party of the country, announced to observe protest day in Sindh against Supreme Court of Pakistan’s decision of declaring Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB)’s appointment ultra vires of the constitution of Pakistan.
Several buses, cars and trucks were set ablaze in different parts of Karachi. The incident took place in Clinton, Lyari, Keamari, Malir, Qauidabad, Sachal, Garden, Kharadar, Dalmia, Soldier Bazaar, Kakri Ground, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulberg Chrowngi, Tower, Maripur, Juna Market and Gulistan-e-Johar.
Aerial firing incidents were also reported in different city areas which have forced the masses to stay inside.
Arson and firing incident were also reported in various parts of Hyderabad including Qasimabad, Latifabad, Phaleli, Gol Building, American Quarter, Sabzi Mandi, Railway Pathak and Bus Terminal. Two people were reportedly injured in the firing incidents.
Seeing the tense situation Sindh Minister for Education Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq announced that all educational institutes in Karachi would remain closed on Friday.
Meanwhile, Registrar Karachi University announced that Friday papers have been postponed and new dates would be announced later.
