Karachi: The social and economical hub of Pakistan, Karachi have been suffering from target killing and street crime and other heinous crimes.
Last month more than 5000, crime related incidents were reported in Karachi including 377 cases of vehicle snatched and stolen, 1470 cases of Bikes snatched and stolen , 2137 cases of Mobile phoned snatched and stolen , 731 cases of attempt to murder were reported, 1237 cases of robberies on highways were reported and 189 cases were reported against drug peddlers.
During the last month more than 100 people have lost their lives in target killings while more than 100 were also injured during firing incidents. Four people were also killed while several people were injured for offering resistance on robbery bids.
The extortion cases were also on rise in the last month. A leader of trader association in Karachi on the anonymity told The News Tribe (TNT) that every day 500 new traders have been receiving extortion calls daily. He said that the police is remain failed to arrest the extortionist. He said that a few weeks ago the extortionist harassed the traders of Bolton Market and also attacked the traders of burns road by opened fire on them. The traders have fear about their lives and they have concerned the rising incidents of extortion, he added.
Last month the transporters have also suffered from the incidents of robberies on highways in which the gang of the robbers looted goods laden vehicles on highways.
