Islamabad: An all important meeting of Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Core Committee is going to held today in Islamabad, with PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in the chair, which will discuss the issue of cutting cabinet’s size.
Sources in PPP said that the core committee will discuss the issue threadbare and will finalise the name of those cabinet members, who would be dropped.
Sources said there is a proposal that the federal cabinet size should not exceed more than 35 to 40 members including both the federal ministers and state ministers.
At present the federal cabinet is comprised 64 members, including 42 federal ministers, 18 state ministers, two advisor and two special assistants.
Sources said that portfolios of some cabinet members would also be changed. They said that Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira might replace Rehman Malik as Interior Minister.
