Islamabad: Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that government does not intend to amend the blasphemy law and that religious parties would be invited for discussion soon.
He said this while answering calls from across the country and abroad in a live programme held jointly by two Pakistani channels on Tuesday evening.
He said the case of Raymond Davis, who is accused of killing two Pakistanis, is proceeding in court and its decision would be implemented. He said Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs would present all the details regarding the accused very soon.
The Prime Minister said cabinet size would be kept within limits set by the Constitution of Pakistan. He said changes in cabinet are routine matters.
He said oil prices in international market are going up, but the government would take any decision in this regard after taking all political parties in confidence.
Gilani said the government will have no objection if new provinces are made through legal channels. He also said that to resolve sugar crisis, a commission has been constituted.
The prime minister said that despite global economic recession, flood devastation, energy crises and terrorism, Pakistan’s economy is progressing.
He said the government has demanded drone technology from United States. He appreciated the efforts of armed forces who were fighting with militants. He said the militants have been weakened.
