Karachi: A big rally against the perceived government’s efforts to amend blasphemy law was taken out from Numaish Chowrangi to Tibet Centre under the aegis of Tehrik-e-Tahafuz-e-Naamose Risalat (SAW), a conglomerate of various religious parties united to thwart any effort to change or abolish the country’s blasphemy law.
The rally turned into a public meeting at Tibet Centre, where the central leaders of the Tehrik addressed the participants. The participants were carrying banner and placards inscribed with anti government slogans on it. They chanted slogans against the government for its perceived attempt to amend blasphemy laws.

He described the campaign to thwart any attempt to change blasphemy laws as peaceful movement. He warned the government to refrain from attempts to amend the blasphemy laws.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that no one would be allowed to amend the blasphemy law. No rulers can dare to amend or abolish the blasphemy laws, he added. He described the efforts to change blasphemy laws west-dictated agenda.
Fazal said that the ‘evils forces’ wanted to divide the nation on ethnic and sectarian basis. He said, “the issue of blasphemy is not religious parties-centric but it is the issue of all the Muslims of the world.” He accused western forces of attempting to abolish Islamic values from Pakistan.
