Karachi: An important meeting of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Coordination Committee is under way in Karachi and London, simultaneously.
Sources said that the MQM is likely to take decision of rejoining the PPP-led government in the meeting.
Sources privy to the matter told The News Tribe that the MQM has decided to rejoin the government after the Prime Minister Gilani had announced to withdraw recent increase in petroleum prices on Thursday evening, adding that it would take back its applications, submitted in the National Assembly and the Senate for allotment of opposition benches in the first phase, and would rejoin the coalition government later.
Earlier, the MQM had decided to leave the government following increase in petroleum prices and aggressive statements of Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza.
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Interior Minister Rehman Malik met Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad and discussed the political situation.
They are also likely to visit Nine-Zero for further meetings with the MQM leadership.
