SYDNEY: England thrashed Australia in the final Sydney test and wrapped up the series by 3-1 on Thursday.
In the final battle of five match series England won the match by an inning and 83 runs. England scored a huge total of 644 (Cook 189, Prior 118 and Bell 115) while Australia scored 280 runs (Johnson 53) in the first inning and 281 (Smith 54) in the second. Anderson got seven wickets (four in the first and 3 in second) in the match.
England side won the Asher series after in Australia after a long interval of 24-year. Last time English side won the Ashes in 1986-87.
All over performance of the English side in the captaincy of Andrew Strauss remained superb.
