Karachi: Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) seems to be not so enthusiastic about tabling a no-trust motion against Prime Minister Gilani in the Parliament to topple the PPP-led coalition government, party sources told The News Tribe (TNT) here on Tuesday.
Apparently, the PML-N don’t want to be part of the campaign to oust PM Gilani, however, at the same time it is aware of the cost it will have to pay if it did not remove the impression of aiding the unpopular and corruption-infested government.
So, the PML-N finds itself to be in catch-22 situation.
However, party sources said that the PML-N would not go for no-confidence motion against the government, though the party would not lend its shoulders to PPP-led government to carry on.
The PML-N sees some hidden hands to be behind the ongoing political turmoil and upheaval that apparently hit the country following the departure of MQM and JUI-F from the coalition government. The PML-N is of the view that any aggressive political posture or position by it will threaten the fragile and struggling democratic system and might lead to its derailment.
A senior party leader told The News Tribe that a no trust move by PML-N might exacerbate the instability in the country. Any third force might take benefit in case of instability and political crisis in the country so PML-N is not in favour of exacerbating the crisis right now through any of it political move.
The PML-N’s decision means Gilani’s fragile government could survive the country’s latest political crisis.
With little support, the government will face an even tougher struggle to strengthen the economy, ease poverty and tackle militancy.
A news agency quoted PML-N spokesman Ahsan Iqbal as saying, “at the moment, a no-confidence vote does not look like a possibility.”
“It’s a matter of concern for the government which has turned into a minority (in parliament) as to how they will effectively run its affairs,” he was quotes as saying.
