ISLAMABAD: The Senate of Pakistan on Thursday unanimously passed the 19th Constitutional Amendment Bill with 80 votes in favour and none in against.
As many as 26 amendments have been made in the seven clauses of the 18th Constitutional Amendment.
According to the bill four members of the Senate would be authorized to take decision about the approval or rejection of the proposed name of the judge by the Judicial Commission in absence of National Assembly.
It is also mentioned in the bill that the Judicial Commission would not recommend the name of judges, which earlier were rejected by the Parliamentary Committee.
Two amendments were proposed by Senators Hafiz Rashid, Muhammad Idress and Haroon Akhtar Khan in section 1 and clause 246 of the 19th amendment. However both the amendments were rejected by the House.
After the approval, the bill would be sent to President through Prime Minister for final notification and then the bill would become the part of the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
