Islamabad: Following the massive protest by senior and junior Pakistani journalists, government of Pakistan nominated a judge of Supreme Court of Pakistan to conduct the hearing of the murder of Saleem Shahzad.
Announcing the commission, Pakistan’s Information Minister Dr Firdous Aashiq Awan said that Justice Saqib Nisar of the apex court of Pakistan would head the commission of Saleem Shahzad murder case.
Dr Awan said that the Justice Nisar has been nominated Saleem Shahzad’s  commission’s head over the demand of journalist community. She said journalist would be given every possible protection.
The federal minister said that Prime Minister Pakistan Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has signed the summery in this regard.
Later, Pervez Shaukat, President Pakistan Federal Union of Journalist, called off the sit-in protest by the journalist community at Shahra-e-Dastoo in front of Pakistani Parliament.
He thanked all journalist, anchor persons and cameramen for participating the sit-in protest. He also appreciated the efforts of Dr Ashiq Awan for supporting their cause.
It is pertinent to mention here that Saleem Shahzad’s body, which showed signs of torture, was found in Mandi Bahauddin two days after he went missing from Islamabad.
Saleem Shahzad was a seasoned journalist who was famous for his investigative stories and analytical features on Taliban, al Qeada and intelligence agencies of Pakistan and different countries for multiple publications and online services.
