Israeli Attacks Kill 40 Palestinians and Injure 120 in Gaza Despite UN Ceasefire Resolution

Gaza City: In defiance of a UN Security Council (UNSC) ceasefire resolution, Israeli airstrikes have continued across Gaza, resulting in the deaths of at least 40 Palestinians, including children and women in the last 24 hours, while 120 others were wounded. Multiple areas in northern and central Gaza were targeted, leading to significant casualties and destruction.

The Israeli military bombed a house in the Az-Zawayda area of Deir el-Balah, central Gaza, killing three people. Additionally, a home in Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood was struck, resulting in one fatality and several injuries. Civil defence crews are still searching for survivors in the rubble of this home and another in the Daraj neighbourhood, where eight people were previously reported dead.

A verified video posted by a Palestinian activist shows Israeli shelling hitting an area near tents housing displaced people in Bahr al-Zawaida, central Gaza. This attack has heightened concerns over the safety of civilians seeking refuge.

In the occupied West Bank, the Israeli military shot a Palestinian man during a raid on the Balata refugee camp near Nablus. His condition remains unknown. Additional operations in the town of Azzun, east of Qalqilya, led to the detention of several Palestinians. Meanwhile, Israeli drone raids have targeted the town of Kfar Kila in southern Lebanon, escalating regional tensions further.

The Israeli military reported that four soldiers were killed in south Gaza on Monday. The soldiers died in an explosion in the Shaboura neighbourhood of Rafah. The Army Radio specified that the deaths occurred due to an explosion within a building.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli forces have been conducting a relentless assault on Gaza through land, sea, and air operations. This has resulted in the deaths of 37,164 people, predominantly children and women, and injuries to 84,832 others. Thousands more are still trapped beneath rubble or in the streets.

Hamas Accepts UN Ceasefire Resolution

Hamas has agreed to a ceasefire resolution passed by the UN Security Council yesterday. However, the Israeli attacks have persisted, undermining the efforts to stabilize the region. According to senior official Sami Abu Zuhri, it is now up to Washington to ensure Israel’s compliance with the resolution.

On Monday, Hamas promptly welcomed the resolution. In a statement following the vote, the group expressed its readiness to work with mediators and engage in indirect negotiations to implement the agreement’s principles.

Australia Denies Visa for Palestinian Football Chief, Lawsuit Accusinng Biden of Complicity in Genocide

The head of the Palestinian Football Association, Jibril Rajoub, criticized Australia for denying his visa application, preventing him from attending a FIFA qualification match in Perth. Australia’s Prime Minister stated that the visa decision was made independently by the Immigration Department.

On the other hand, in the US, a federal appeals court in California is hearing a lawsuit filed by activists accusing President Joe Biden and his administration of complicity in what they allege is Israel’s genocide in Gaza. The lawsuit contends that Biden and his secretaries of state and defence have failed to prevent genocide and are supporting Israeli actions.
