Elon Musk Reclaims Title of World’s Richest Person, Surpassing Bernard Arnault and Jeff Bezos

New York: Elon Musk has surged to the top of the Forbes Real Time Billionaires list, surpassing Bernard Arnault and Jeff Bezos to become the richest person in the world.

Musk’s net worth has reached an astounding $210.7 billion, driven by his stakes in Tesla, SpaceX, and the social media platform X. This positions him ahead of LVMH’s Bernard Arnault, who holds the second spot with $201 billion, and Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, in third place with $197.4 billion.

Mark Zuckerberg, with a net worth of $163.9 billion, and Larry Ellison, at $146.2 billion, round out the top five on the list. Musk, 52, co-founded Tesla in 2003, but it wasn’t until 2020 and 2021 that the company’s market capitalization saw significant growth. His purchase of Twitter, now renamed X, in October 2022 further bolstered his financial standing.

In a related development, Indian billionaire Gautam Adani has reclaimed the title of Asia’s richest person from Mukesh Ambani. Adani’s net worth now stands at $111 billion, placing him 11th globally, while Ambani ranks 12th with a net worth of $109 billion.

Despite facing challenges, including a critical report by Hindenburg Research in January 2023, Adani’s net worth has climbed by $26.8 billion in 2024, compared to Ambani’s $12.7 billion increase.

The rapid accumulation of wealth among the world’s top billionaires, including Musk, Arnault, Bezos, Ellison, and Zuckerberg, continues at a remarkable pace. An Oxfam report predicted that these five men have collectively grown their wealth by $14 million per hour since 2020. The analysis suggests that the world could witness its first trillionaire within the next decade.
