The Secret of Our Mandate is the Development of Sindh: Murad Ali Shah

Karachi: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah stated that developmental projects are being undertaken across Sindh, with Thar poised to change the fate of all of Pakistan. He emphasized that the public voted for the progress of Sindh and trusted them, and they will continue to serve.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Vision Sindh Program in Karachi, he expressed his desire to showcase the developmental works in Sindh. He mentioned that their developmental projects encompass the entire province, with a network of projects spread throughout Sindh.

The Chief Minister highlighted the significant role of their participation in the energy sector, benefiting the entire country. He remarked that their slogan, “Thar will change the fate of all of Pakistan,” has become a reality, with Thar indeed transforming the nation’s fortunes.

He recalled that President Asif Ali Zardari resumed work on Thar after 2008, and by 2019, Thar proved to be the only solution to Pakistan’s changing fortunes. The people of Sindh are fortunate that mining work is only being done in Sindh, unlike other provinces where the chief ministers are limited to mere rhetoric without any substantial work.

Murad Ali Shah informed that the Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company is working on the Block II mining project. In Phase One of Block II, COD was achieved on July 10, 2019, at a cost of $627 million, yielding an annual coal output of 3.8 million tons, with over 2 million tons mined so far. Phase Two, with an initial cost of $235 million and a total cost of $862 million, will also produce 3.8 million tons annually, totaling 7.6 million tons of coal annually.

He mentioned that work is ongoing on the Sino Sindh Resources Block I mining project, a CPEC project, with FC achieved on December 31, 2019. He added that people from Thatta, Sujawal, and Badin are involved, with Thar Foundation established for the welfare of people through mining. Thar’s first female engineer is working on this project, and local women are operating trucks and RO plants. They have also established a hospital in collaboration with Thar Foundation.

Murad Ali Shah stated that they have initiated technical education and are building a university in Thar, with 750,000 trees planted and fishing occurring in the desert. Thar Block I is generating 1,320 MW of electricity.

He highlighted the installation of a power line from Nooriabad to Karachi, and a power plant at Nooriabad under a public-private partnership, providing 100 MW of electricity to Karachi. This power plant was set up not for themselves but for the people of Karachi, enhancing employment opportunities through the promotion of factories.

The Chief Minister remarked that people often wonder why PPP secures more seats every time, explaining that votes are cast for their developmental projects and leadership vision. Their developmental projects in Sindh reflect their vision, and the public acknowledges their service by voting for them.

He announced that in August, their unit will launch a free-generated CyberKnife, with patients from 167 cities in the country and 15 countries treated at their CyberKnife center. They are also building a 600-bed, 12-story medical tower under a public-private partnership, catering to patients from across Pakistan.

He shared that they have established four new universities in the past year, including the Karachi Metropolitan University, and a government high school in Kashmore, known for various reasons, serving both boys and girls.

Murad Ali Shah emphasized their support for the private sector, with the operation of an electric bus service and the launch of a pink bus service for women, recently inaugurated in Shaheed Benazirabad. He mentioned large-scale irrigation and agriculture department schemes for solar water tube wells, cold storage schemes for farmers, and extensive work in sports.
