Domestic Debt of Pakistan Increases by PKR 4,622 Billion

Islamabad: Pakistan’s domestic debt has recorded an increase of PKR 4,622 billion.

According to a report, by March, the domestic debt of Pakistan rose to PKR 43,432 billion. The total debt burden on the country increased by 6.5%, exceeding PKR 61,000 billion.

At the beginning of the current fiscal year, Pakistan’s domestic debt stood at PKR 38,809 billion. The foreign debt decreased by PKR 89 billion, reducing it to PKR 21,941 billion.

The government’s external liabilities increased by 6%, reaching PKR 3,284 billion. The report indicates that an agreement with the IMF may lead to further increases in both domestic and foreign debt.
