PESHAWAR: World’s second and Pakistan first, the man having most longest moustache said that he is interested in second marriage but faced rejection every time because of it long moustache.
Ameer Muhammad Khan Afridi 42, belongs to the Khyber Agency of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, having 30 inches long moustache eagerly waiting for his second marriage but his ‘unique’ look plays obstructive role.
During an interview to local newspaper, Ameer Afridi said that he can leave his home, country and everything else but cannot compromise on moustache.
Amir Muhammad is running shops of wristwatches at the Deans Trade Centre and of wall clocks in Karkhano Market. He won the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Award for this handlebar moustache in 2005.
The Afridi tribesman spends 30 minutes grooming himself every day, he uses special Dubai-imported oil from extracts of almond and coconut to nourish the hair. He then fashions the handlebar whiskers into crescent-like curls using a German-made gel.
Afridi also said his moustache had gained him respect, adding that people even give him their turn while standing in queues outside banks and other places.
Ameer Khan owned the look as he get influenced by the exposure of Nawab of KalaBagh Amir Mohammad Khan’s during his interview in 1992.
Though he claims to be spending up to Rs15000 a month on his moustache, he said he was getting a grant of Rs5000 only from the political management of the area but other governmental departments especially Cultural department showed no interest to support me.
Ameer felt depressed while talking about governmental lack of interest, he said that government does not award him or even an appreciation certificate, if he was in any other country they would probably offer him the post of cultural ambassador.
He said if he was in any other country then the government probably deployed him on the post of cultural ambassador but government does not care. He complained that government does not award him or appreciation certificate.
