Islamabad: All arrangements have been completed to send an official of American Consulate, Raymond David, to Washington, who shot dead two Pakistanis in Lahore on Thursday evening.
Diplomatic sources said that a meeting in this regard has been held in Islamabad Embassy. However, officials of American Embassy have not commented over this news.
Alberto Rodregvator, American Press Attache in Pakistan, has said that David is an American Embassy employee but “we cannot say if he is being sent to America”.
Foreign affairs experts said that according to international laws, embassy employees have to inform local local administration about their weapons before entering residential areas.
Ahmar Bilal Sufi, an expert of international affairs, says that governments are provided lists of those persons who have immunity according to international law. He said that it is to be checked if David, the killer of two Pakistanis, has immunity or not.
Punjab’s Law Minister, Rana Sanaullah, has said that it seems that the American was on some secret mission.
He said David’s movement in such a crowded area of Qurtaba Chowk (Mazang Chowk) is a matter of grave concern. Questions are being raised here that why the American was carrying weapons with him, he said.
He said the American was in the custody of police and now Judiciary will take a comprehensive decision over the issue.
Atia Nisar, Member of National Assembly and human rights activist, has said that Pakistan is an important ally of the United States against war on terror and such incidents may hamper the efforts against war on terror.
