Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday announced schedule for the election of a technocrat seat falling vacant after the resignation of Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior A Rehman Malik.
In a statement issued on Friday. the ECP called upon the members of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh to elect to the Senate one member from that province against the seat reserved for technocrats, including Ulema, which has fallen vacant, due to the resignation tendered by Rehman Malik.
The date for Public Notice Inviting Nomination Papers has been set for July 17. Nomination of candidates could be made on July 19-20 (Between 0900 hours to 1600 hours) while scrutiny of the nomination papers will be made on July 23-24 (From 1000 hours to 1400 hours).
Last date for filing of appeals against rejection of nomination papers is July 26 (From 0900 hours to 1400 hours) while disposal of appeals against the rejection of nomination papers is July 30. Last date for withdrawal of candidature is July 31(Between 0900 hours to 1400 hours) while publication of list of contesting candidates will be made on August 1.
Polling will be held on August 8 from 0900 hours to 1600 hours at provincial assembly building, Karachi.
