Islamabad: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Muhammad Hussain Mahenti has said that “the ‘Thapa mafia’ during ongoing voters’ verification process in the absence of army has got freedom to prepare fake electoral rolls once again”.
During his address to a press conference at JI Islamabad Office Mahenti said the election would consider fake as a result of preparing fake voters’ lists.
“Irregularities during voters’ verification is tantamount to pre-poll rigging adding the political and religious parties will not accept the results in next general elections if the same situation is persisted”, Mahenti added.
He reiterated the MQM workers were accompanied Election Commission staff in voters’ verification despite the SC verdict to conduct verification of electoral rolls in the presence of army.
PML-N General Secretary Sindh Saleem Zia, Irfanullah Marwat, Zubair Farooq Khan, Shahid Shamsi, JI Secretary Information Islamabad Sajjad Ahmed Abbasi and others were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahenti said all political and religious parties were on its views that the Election Commission violation the SC verdict adding they will not accepted the electoral rolls once again if the army and FC personnel would not being included in voters’ verification.
“Through a plan conspiracy, thousands of votes have been transferred from the city adding the votes of many people have been shifted from nearby polling stations to distinct polling stations”, Mahenti added.
JI leader also claimed that the Chief Election Commissioner Fakruddin G Ibrahim and Election Commission staff was in pressure of MQM.
Saleem Zia, Muslim League Nawaz’s leader from Pakistan’s second largest province Sind, regretted that the CEC was not able to implement the decision of SC regarding voters’ verification.
He demanded of the officials concern to stop the intervention of MQM and make assure the involvement of army personnel in verification of electoral rolls.
Marwat warned that all political and religious parties will contact to Supreme Court again if the ongoing process of voters’ verification is being continued.
