Texas: In the U.S. state of Texas, a local woman has been arrested and charged with attempted capital murder for attempting to drown a 3-year-old Palestinian girl in a swimming pool. Elizabeth Wolf, 42, was indicted by a Tarrant County grand jury during a racial hatred case hearing. The incident occurred in May, and after three months of investigation, the jury concluded that Elizabeth’s crime was severe.
According to investigators, the incident took place last May at a swimming pool in an apartment complex in the Dallas-Fort Worth suburb of Euless. Elizabeth Wolf got into an argument with the mother of the 3-year-old Palestinian girl and hurled racial abuses at the girl’s mother. The girl’s 6-year-old brother was also present. Wolf asked the mother where they were from, which led to a verbal altercation, and Wolf then attempted to drown the child in the pool. Wolf now faces charges of attempted murder as well as a potential hate crime charge.
Non-governmental organizations and volunteers have raised concerns that incidents of racial hatred are increasing in American society.
