Rawalpindi: Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, stated that the fight will continue until the last terrorist is eliminated. In a press conference, he provided a detailed briefing on ongoing anti-terrorism operations, internal security, and other significant matters.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif revealed that 32,173 intelligence-based operations were conducted this year, with 4,000 of them carried out in the last month alone. During these operations, 90 terrorists were killed, and the fight will continue until the last terrorist is eradicated.
He further explained that the terrorist activities in Balochistan were instigated by internal and external enemies. Fourteen personnel from security forces and law enforcement agencies were martyred in the Balochistan incidents.
He clarified that the perception of deprivation and state oppression in Balochistan is false, and these recent incidents have no connection with Islam or Baloch traditions.
Stressing the apolitical nature of the Pakistan Army, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif emphasized that the army does not support any political agenda and follows strict principles of self-accountability. Referring to the case of Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed, he mentioned that even after retirement, evidence of violations of the Army Act emerged, leading to his court-martial.
DG ISPR also said that the army expects other institutions to hold individuals accountable who misuse their positions for personal or political objectives.
