Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that the government is fully meeting all the conditions agreed upon with the IMF, and the burden of inflation is gradually decreasing.
While addressing a federal cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister mentioned that the inflation rate fell to single digits in August, compared to nearly 27% in August of the previous year. He emphasized the need to eliminate corruption in revenue collection and curb smuggling and other illegal activities.
Shehbaz Sharif further added that reducing expenses, ensuring right-sizing and downsizing, and decreasing circular debt are also among the government’s top priorities. The government is committed to policies aimed at creating effective employment opportunities, acknowledging that the path to development is challenging but not impossible.
The Prime Minister stressed that Pakistan lacks neither resources nor talented minds. He also expressed confidence in securing a new IMF program but emphasized that this should be the last one, ensuring that the country can stand on its own feet.
