Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Raoof Hasan has revealed that party leaders have personal contacts with the army. He stated that the August 22 rally was postponed as a result of these contacts with the establishment. He urged for immediate negotiations between the army and PTI, expressing hope that the deadlock between the two would end, as it is in the interest of the state.
Speaking to the media, the PTI spokesperson said that it is crucial for the army and PTI to resume talks without delay. He emphasized the need for political stability and called for recognition of PTI’s mandate, either through judicial processes or new elections.
He noted that while PTI does not wish to involve the army in politics, dialogue with the army is essential for moving forward. Currently, power lies with the army rather than the government, making discussions with the army more beneficial.
He added that dialogue between major parties and powerful institutions is necessary, and the army has the power to acknowledge PTI’s mandate. He stated that they have done everything possible to facilitate negotiations with the army.
