Kolkata: Sanjay Roy, the main accused in the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor, has rejected the vegetable and bread provided in jail, instead requesting egg chowmein.
According to Indian media reports, jail officials revealed that Sanjay Roy disdainfully accepted the bread and vegetable meal, stating that he would not eat this plain food and demanded egg chowmein instead.
The report indicates that under jail regulations, the same type of food is prepared for all inmates, and no special requests from any inmate are considered. Due to this, Sanjay Roy’s request for egg chowmein could not be fulfilled.
Further, the report mentioned that after refusing the meal, Sanjay Roy was warned by the jail staff, following which he agreed to eat the standard jail meal.
The report also noted that Sanjay Roy had requested permission to sleep from the jail staff and was observed muttering to himself several times while sleeping, but after a few days, he returned to normal behavior.
