Islamabad: Prime Minister’s Advisor on Inter-Provincial Coordination, Rana Sanaullah, has claimed that Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa has refused to accept an extension of his term.
In an exclusive interview with a local TV channel, he stated that they do not have the necessary numbers for extending the Chief Justice’s term or for making constitutional amendments. He added that if they had the numbers, such amendments should have been made, as constitutional amendments are the prerogative of Parliament.
Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa has made it clear that he will not accept an extension. He has discussed this matter with the Law Minister and the Attorney General, noting that an extension of the retirement age would be acceptable to everyone.
On the political front, Rana Sanaullah mentioned that they are not forming an alliance with Maulana Fazlur Rehman but are cooperating with him.
He also addressed allegations against Faiz Hameed regarding involvement in the appointment of the Army Chief and obtaining the desired positions. He claimed that there are accusations of using PTI for these purposes and suggested that if these allegations are true, Faiz Hameed could not have acted alone. The founding members of PTI would also be involved.
