Occupied Jerusalem: Israel’s National Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, has declared his intention to build a Jewish synagogue within the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
According to international news agencies, during a visit to Al-Aqsa Mosque under police protection, Minister Ben-Gvir was asked if he planned to build a temple at the site. He responded, “Yes, yes, if it were up to me, I would definitely build it and also hoist the Israeli flag at this sacred site.”
When asked about Israel’s “Temple Mount” policy, which refers to the Al-Aqsa compound by Jews, and whether it allows Jews to worship there, Ben-Gvir stated that the Prime Minister was aware that when he joined the government, he had asserted that there would be no discrimination. “If Muslims are allowed to pray, Jews should also have the right to worship,” he added.
In response to the minister’s statements, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office issued a statement affirming that they accept and enforce the decades-old “Temple Mount” law, which prohibits non-Muslim prayers in the mosque compound.
