Islamabad: Murad Ali, a mountaineer from Quetta, has successfully conquered Broad Peak, Pakistan’s fourth highest peak, becoming the first person from Balochistan to summit a peak in the Karakoram range.
Broad Peak is the twelfth highest peak in the world and the fourth highest in Pakistan. Traversing through treacherous and snow-covered paths, Murad Ali reached the summit after approximately 60 hours of climbing from Camp 20 to the peak.
Murad Ali expressed that mountaineers are underappreciated in this “land of mountains.” He mentioned that the expedition cost him 3.5 million rupees, with friends helping to cover the travel expenses.
The purpose of scaling this towering peak, according to Murad Ali, was to send a message to the youth of Balochistan that with passion and determination, anything is possible.
