Islamabad: The inflation trend in the country shows no sign of slowing down, with prices of 21 essential items rising during the past week.
The Federal Bureau of Statistics has released its weekly report, indicating that while the inflation rate on a weekly basis is decreasing in the second month of the current fiscal year (August), the decline is slow. As a result, the inflation rate for the current week has slightly decreased by 0.10%.
Similarly, on an annual basis, the inflation rate has fallen to 16.69% during the current week. However, despite these figures, the prices of 21 daily-use items have increased on a weekly basis, while prices of only nine items have decreased, and 21 items remained stable.
According to official data, during the current week, the price of potatoes increased by 2.41%, LPG by 0.16%, chickpeas by 6.05%, beef by 0.47%, mustard oil by 0.63%, LPG by 1.04%, and fresh loose milk by 0.39%.
Meanwhile, the prices of sugar decreased by 1.43%, tomatoes by 21.96%, onions by 1.70%, bananas by 2.08%, lentils by 1%, bread by 0.61%, and flour by 2.77% during the same period.
