Cricketer Shakib Al Hasan Charged with Murder During Bangladesh Student Protest

Dhaka: Bangladeshi cricketer Shakib Al Hasan has been charged along with 146 others of murder in Dhaka during the students’ protest.

According to Bangladeshi media, Shakib Al Hasan is accused of being involved in the murder of a garment factory worker. The victim’s father filed the murder case at a Dhaka police station on Thursday.

Media reports indicate that Shakib Al Hasan has been named in the murder case along with former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed of whose party Shakib is a member.

It is noteworthy that on August 5, Mohammad Rubel was shot during a protest march on Ring Road in Adabar. He sustained injuries to his chest and abdomen and was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds on August 7.
