Beirut: Israel has targeted a car belonging to a leader of the Palestinian Authority’s ruling party, Fatah, in a drone attack in southern Lebanon.
According to international news agencies, the drone strike occurred in the city of Sidon in southern Lebanon. The attack completely destroyed the car and resulted in the death of a Palestinian individual inside.
The deceased has been identified as Khalil Makdah, a senior leader of the Fatah party. He was also the brother of a commander from Fatah’s armed wing.
Officials informed the media that the incident took place near a Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon. Khalil Makdah was alone in his vehicle at the time of the attack.
It is noteworthy that since the conflict began on October 7, Israel had previously targeted only Hezbollah or Hamas leaders and commanders with drone strikes in Lebanon. This marks the first time a Fatah leader or member has been targeted.
The Palestinian Authority has yet to comment on this incident.
