After Electricity and Gas Price Hikes, Karachi Sees 23% Increase in Water Rates

Karachi: After the recent hikes in electricity and gas prices, water has also become more expensive in Karachi.

Details reveal that in the fifth meeting of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, chaired by Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, a 23% increase in water bills was approved.

Sources indicate that the sewerage bills have been increased by 14%, and water rates by 9%, resulting in a combined 23% hike in water bills.

Additionally, the Mayor of Karachi has implemented a municipal tax to be collected through electricity bills.
