London: The British government has begun contemplating classifying domestic violence against women as terrorism in response to the increasing incidents of violence against women.
British Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has directed authorities to review the existing laws on preventing violence against women and identify any shortcomings or weaknesses in order to make necessary amendments.
Violence against women, both inside and outside the home, is rapidly increasing across the UK. The government aims to categorize any form of violence or attack against women as an extreme right-wing extremism.
According to a report by The Telegraph, Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s cabinet is considering involving school teachers in efforts to prevent violence against women. Teachers are being prepared to report to relevant authorities if they observe any tendency among children to favor violence against women.
The police are also being prepared to address individuals who show tendencies toward violence against women or express such preferences openly. Measures will be taken to eliminate “revolutionary” ideas from such individuals, who could also be referred to mental health centers by the police.
