Bogotá: Colombia has suspended the supply of coal to Israel, which was reportedly used to make bombs to kill Palestinians.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced that Israel was using coal imported from Colombia in bombs dropped on Palestinian children, which he deemed unacceptable. President Petro stated that the supply of coal to Israel has been immediately halted.
It is noted that Israel fulfills 50% of its coal needs from Colombia and had purchased coal worth $320 million from Colombia in the first eight months of the previous year.
Colombia had already reduced coal exports in June, but with no change in Israel’s actions, the supply has now been completely stopped. Previously, Colombia had also severed diplomatic relations with Israel over its actions in Gaza, labeling the atrocities as genocide and Holocaust.
