Lahore: Lahore police have revealed that 62% of reported cases involving sexual exploitation, kidnapping, and rape of women and children were found to be baseless and subsequently dismissed after thorough investigations.
According to police records, out of 4,990 cases registered up until August 7 this year, 3,099 were deemed false after investigation. The records show that 6,118 individuals were accused in these cases, with the highest number of false reports involving the abduction of women, where 2,221 complaints were found to be fabricated. Additionally, 223 cases of sexual assault were dismissed as false.
Police officials suggest that many of these cases were filed out of personal grudges or as a means of blackmail, complicating the already delicate issue of crimes against women and children. This revelation underscores the challenges law enforcement faces in addressing genuine cases while dealing with false allegations.
