Rawalpindi: Former Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail, Muhammad Akram, has been arrested on charges of facilitating PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan while he was in jail.
According to sources, investigations have begun into two additional officers suspected of facilitating Imran Khan at Adiala Jail. These officers include former Deputy Superintendent Zafar and Assistant Superintendent, who are considered close associates of the former Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Akram.
Security agencies have taken Muhammad Akram into custody for alleged misuse of power. He is accused of facilitating Imran Khan and acting as a messenger for him. The security agencies have informed the Inspector General of Prisons about the situation, and Muhammad Akram had already been removed from his position.
Sources also revealed that, based on information obtained from Muhammad Akram, further questioning will be conducted with six more employees, including two orderlies, three warders, and a head warder, all of whom are regarded as close associates of Muhammad Akram.
Muhammad Akram is accused of playing a role in messaging and facilitating the PTI founder. He has been stationed at Adiala Jail for over 15 years. A crucial meeting is expected to take place today regarding the illegal facilities provided to Imran Khan by the jail administration. Agencies are currently interrogating the former Deputy Superintendent, and departmental action will follow after the investigation.
