Faiz Hameed Was a Valuable Asset That Was Wasted, Removed by Bajwa at the Behest of Nawaz: Imran Khan

Rawalpindi: The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Prime Minister, Imran Khan stated that Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed was a valuable asset who has been wasted.

During an informal conversation with journalists at Adiala Jail, Imran Khan said that the army is investigating Faiz Hameed, which is their internal matter. He added that while accountability of the former DG ISI is a good thing, accountability should apply to everyone.

He also informed the media that General (R) Faiz had been in contact with the Taliban for over three years and had established strong connections with them.

Regarding Khawaja Asif’s remarks, he stated that if Faiz was indeed involved in planning and executing the events of May 9, he should be prosecuted and thoroughly investigated.

Imran Khan revealed that according to Intelligence Bureau (IB) reports, the current Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, Malik Ahmad Khan, was close to General Bajwa and had no connection with Faiz Hameed’s case.

The former Prime Minister said that General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa had removed General (retd) Faiz Hameed at the behest of Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif, and there had been a severe argument between him and General Bajwa over this decision. In response to the Defence Minister’s talk of extending General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa’s term, Imran Khan stated that this supports his stance.

Imran Khan warned that if the decisions regarding reserved seats are not implemented, it would be a third violation of the constitution, and PTI is being prepared for this scenario from now on.
