Heroic Muslim Guard Saves 11-Year-Old Girl and Mother from Knife Attack in London

London: In a heroic rescue on Monday, a 29-year-old Muslim security guard named Abdullah saved an 11-year-old girl and her mother from a knife attack in London’s busy Leicester Square. Abdullah, who works at a nearby store, sprang into action after hearing a scream and witnessing a man stabbing the young girl.

Abdullah quickly overpowered the 32-year-old attacker, disarming him and pinning him to the ground until additional bystanders joined to help restrain the man until police arrived.

While on duty at TWG Tea Shop, Abdullah witnessed a man attacking an 11-year-old girl and her mother. Without hesitation, he rushed out of the shop and courageously tackled the assailant, successfully disarming him and preventing further harm. Both the mother and daughter sustained injuries but were spared from what could have been a far more tragic outcome, thanks to Abdullah’s quick and selfless actions.

“I just saw a kid getting stabbed, and I just tried to save her. It’s my duty to just save them,” Abdullah said. “I heard a scream, and went outside to see a man with a knife and he was stabbing a kid. I jumped on him, held the hand in which he was carrying a knife, and just put him down on the floor as other bystanders joined in to pin the attacker to the ground until police arrived four minutes later. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the girl suffered serious injuries and is currently receiving further treatment in the hospital, although her condition is not life-threatening. Her 34-year-old mother also sustained minor injuries during the attack. Authorities have arrested the suspect, who is believed to have no prior connection to the victims, and are continuing to investigate the motive behind the attack.

“It’s horrible, to be honest… I’ve never seen anything like that before. To do this to a kid, it’s horrible.” Abdullah said.

Desmond, 45, a witness who performs as Darth Vader in Leicester Square daily, described the attacker as a “young, white, skinny male dressed in a black T-shirt and jeans”.

Desmond reported that the assailant targeted the girl, putting her in a headlock and stabbing her multiple times. Desmond told reporters, “When I looked to my side, I saw a young man repeatedly stabbing her with a knife.”

This shocking incident occurred in one of London’s most popular tourist spots, sparking renewed concerns about public safety. It comes just two weeks after a tragic knife attack in Southport, where three girls were killed, and several others were injured.

Detective Chief Superintendent Christina Jessah praised the swift actions of Abdullah and the other bystanders, stating that their intervention likely prevented further harm. An urgent investigation is underway as detectives work to uncover the full details of the incident.

Police have stated that there is no evidence at this time to suggest the incident was terror-related.
