Tehran: By enhancing its expertise in drone technology, Iran has developed a weapon that has become a significant headache for Israel.
According to a report by Al Arabiya, experts suggest that drones have become a weapon for Iran and its supported militant groups that can be highly deadly when used against Israel, and indeed have been.
Al Arabiya noted that in the past three to four months, Iran and its allied militant groups, particularly Hezbollah, have conducted long-range attacks on Israel using drones. Israel’s Iron Dome air defense system has proven effective in many cases, but drones now present a real challenge.
It has been observed that drone attacks near the borders are less effectively countered by air defense systems due to limited response time. Close-range targets leave no time for a counterattack.
Experts indicate that while Israel had managed to defend against rockets and missiles relatively easily, drones have proven to be much more troublesome. Israeli defense experts are emphasizing the need to upgrade defensive capabilities and are focusing their attention on this issue.
