Dhaka: Dr. Muhammad Yunus, head of Bangladesh’s interim government, has arrived in Dhaka.
Speaking to the media upon arrival, Dr. Yunus became emotional and stated that students saved Bangladesh, and now they must work for peace and stability in the country.
Dr. Yunus said, “We must now protect this freedom. I am happy to return to my homeland.” He also mentioned that attacks on minorities in Bangladesh were part of a conspiracy, and emphasized that the future of Bangladesh is tied to its youth. He expressed confidence that together they will overcome the country’s financial difficulties.
It is noteworthy that a few days ago, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled to India under immense pressure from student protests, resigning from her position.
Following Sheikh Hasina’s departure, the military chief took command of Bangladesh and announced the formation of an interim government, appointing Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus as its head.
Army Chief General Waqer-uz-Zaman, while addressing a press conference, stated that the interim government will consist of 15 members, though it remains to be decided who will be included in the cabinet.
