Rawalpindi: Jamaat-e-Islami’s protest against electricity price hikes and inflation has entered its 14th day at Liaquat Bagh.
The sit-in at Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi, continues to oppose the increase in electricity prices, agreements with IPPs, as well as the rising costs of petrol, gas, and general inflation. Protesters at the sit-in remain highly motivated, chanting slogans in support of their demands.
On Saturday, the participants of the sit-in performed the Fajr prayer at the venue and were provided with breakfast as usual.
The number of participants in the protest is increasing daily due to convoys arriving from across the country. Today, the fifth round of negotiations between Jamaat-e-Islami and the government will take place.
Jamaat-e-Islami, led by Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, will march towards Murree Road today as part of their demands. Speaking to the media in Rawalpindi, Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Amir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman stated that they will no longer tolerate IPPs and emphasized that their sole agenda is to provide relief to the public.
