Doha: Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar has been elected as the new head of the Palestinian resistance group.
According to international news agencies, following the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh in an Israeli attack in Tehran, Hamas has elected Yahya Ibrahim Hassan Sinwar, a senior official in Gaza, as the new head of the organization.
The Palestinian resistance group issued a brief statement, announcing that Hamas has elected Commander Yahya Sinwar as the new head of its political bureau. The statement also included prayers for the protection of Yahya Sinwar as he succeeds the martyred Commander Ismail Haniyeh.
It is noteworthy that Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas, was martyred in an Israeli attack in Tehran on July 31, prompting the organization to announce the new head.
