Pakistani Students Win Bronze Medal at International Chemistry Olympiad

Karachi: Pakistani students showcased their outstanding performance at the International Chemistry Olympiad held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, by winning a bronze medal. The 56th International Chemistry Olympiad saw Abdul Rafay from Karachi Grammar School securing the bronze medal.

The team included Mahnoor Rashid from Lahore Grammar School Wah Cantt, Marwa from Punjab College for Women, Jaranwala Road Faisalabad, and Syed Mehr Ali Shah from Dubai International Public School and College, Mansehra. The students were trained in chemistry at the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi.

This was stated by the coordinators of the National Chemistry Talent Contest, Professor Dr. M. Raza Shah and Professor Dr. Khalid M. Khan, during a meeting chaired by Professor Dr. Farzana Shaheen, Director of the ICCBS at the University of Karachi, on Tuesday at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi.

It is noteworthy that under the leadership of Professor Dr. M. Raza Shah and Professor Dr. Khalid M. Khan from the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi, Pakistani students participated in these competitions. They mentioned that the participation of young Pakistani scholars in these chemistry competitions is made possible with the support of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.
