Dhaka: The protests in Bangladesh continue unabated even after the resignation of Sheikh Hasina. On Tuesday, enraged protesters set fire to the Indira Gandhi Cultural Center (IGCC) in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, which was established to promote cultural ties with India.
According to Indian media reports, an angry mob attacked and set fire to the Indira Gandhi Cultural Center located in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. The protesters also set ablaze several other locations in the capital, including the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum (Bangabandhu Bhaban).
It is noteworthy that the Indira Gandhi Cultural Center was inaugurated in March 2010 to foster cultural connections between Bangladesh and India. The center hosted various cultural programs, seminars, workshops, activities with Indian experts and professionals, and offered training in Hindi, Indian classical music, and Kathak and Manipuri Indian dances.
