India’s Absurd Propaganda Accuses Pakistan and China of Using Jamaat-e-Islami to Overthrow Sheikh Hasina

Dhaka: The events in Bangladesh are a result of its internal circumstances. The Awami League has faced the consequences of its 15-year rule. Sheikh Hasina has reaped what she sowed during her prolonged tenure as Prime Minister. However, some people are looking for external scapegoats.

Indian media, turning into a propaganda machine, has shifted its focus towards Pakistan. They claim that Pakistan, in collusion with China, has toppled the government in Bangladesh. This situation is akin to “cutting off your nose to spite your face.”

When Sheikh Hasina realized she could no longer hold onto power amidst the chaos, she tried to blame Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing, Islami Chhatra Shibir, and subsequently banned both. However, this action did not achieve anything. The narrative was then spun that Jamaat-e-Islami resurrected the student movement and called for civil disobedience two days after the ban. On the first day of this movement, over 100 people, including 14 police officers, were killed.

The Indian media now suggests that the pro-India government in Bangladesh could not be tolerated by Pakistan and China, leading them to use Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing to dismantle Sheikh Hasina’s government. While Indian media attempts to drag Pakistan and China into the analysis of Bangladesh’s situation, they fail to explain why the Awami League, which enjoyed 15 years of power, crumbled so easily when faced with student protests.

Bangladeshi media does not attribute the student movement to any external influence. They do not implicate Pakistan, China, or any other country. On one hand, it is said that Jamaat-e-Islami is a minor party with only a few seats, but on the other hand, it’s humorously suggested that Jamaat-e-Islami not only conspires against the government but also topples it.

Despite the Indian media’s propaganda, the people of Bangladesh understand well that the unrest was caused by the Awami League’s oppressive rule. The party believed that no one could remove them from power. When Sheikh Hasina became Prime Minister for the fourth consecutive time, she thought she could rule indefinitely according to her whims.

This mentality led the new generation of Bangladeshis to take to the streets, determined to resolve the issue decisively. The most notable point is that those involved in the student movement were prepared to face death, determined to see the struggle through to the end.

The Indian propaganda machine forgets that each participant in the Bangladeshi movement is a native. No external entity led the student movement. The leaders were and remain from the same land.

By blaming Pakistan and China, Indian media aims to tarnish their image globally. Accusing ISI and China of toppling the Bangladeshi government does not change the fact that the events in Bangladesh were carried out by its own people, driven by their circumstances.
