Islamabad: The World Bank will loan Pakistan $8.7 billion over the next five years for various development projects.
According to a document from the Economic Affairs Division, the World Bank is currently collaborating on 58 projects in Pakistan, with a total cost of $14.8 billion. Pakistan has already received $6.16 billion. The World Bank will provide an additional $8.7 billion in loans by 2029.
The documents also indicate that additional financing of $1 billion will be allocated for Phase One of the Dasu Hydropower Project. The Dasu Transmission Line project will receive $700 million, and $584.4 million will be provided for the Dasu Hydropower Stage One Project.
Further details show that $500 million will be provided for the Sindh Flood Emergency Rehabilitation Project and another $500 million for housing projects in the Sindh province. $400 million will be allocated for expenditures and development projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Additionally, $460 million is expected for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, and $450 million will be used for hydropower and renewable energy projects in KP.
The Economic Affairs Division also mentioned that $400 million will be given for higher education development projects. $258 million will be allocated for Phase One of the National Health Support Project. Development projects include a $440 million water supply project for rural areas in Punjab, $390 million funding for the Tarbela Four Extension Project, and a $300 million project for rural access in KP.
