Paris: Pakistani javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem has secured his place in the final round of the javelin throw at the Paris Olympics 2024, with a season-best throw of 86.59 meters. Nadeem achieved this mark in the Group-B qualifying round held at the Stade de France.
Nadeem’s performance places him third in the qualifiers, following India’s Neeraj Chopra, who led with an impressive 89.34 meters, and Grenada’s Anderson Peters, who threw 88.63 meters. Nadeem’s throw not only qualifies him for the final but also fuels hopes for a potential Olympic medal, building on his previous accomplishments including a fifth-place finish at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
In addition to Nadeem, the Group-A qualifiers saw Germany’s Julian Weber leading with a throw of 87.76 meters, followed by Kenya’s Julius Yego with 85.97 meters, and Czechia’s Jakub Vadlejch at 85.63 meters. Finland’s Toni Keranen also made a strong debut with a personal best of 85.27 meters.
Since his start in 2015, Nadeem has shown significant progress, including winning gold at the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Athletics Championships. His latest achievement at the Paris Olympics represents another milestone in his impressive career trajectory.
