New Delhi: The number of deaths in India due to floods and landslides caused by severe rainfall has surpassed 100.
According to international news agencies, heavy and continuous rainfall in the Indian state of Kerala has led to a flood situation, causing widespread destruction from landslides and other incidents.
During the rainfall, a landslide occurred in a village in Kerala, causing the entire village to be swept away in the floodwaters. Dozens of homes were buried under the landslide. Rescue teams later recovered 109 bodies, but the number of people still missing and feared dead remains over 100, according to authorities.
It has been reported that vehicles and livestock were buried under the landslide, and much was washed away by the floodwaters. A bridge was also destroyed and swept away by the floods. Continuous rain and disrupted routes are hindering rescue operations.
